Please note that I do not perform for stag parties and other all male groups.
Costs The cost of hiring me to perform at your event is based on a rate of £60 per hour or part thereof at your venue. That's a little more than the cost of a plumber. If you wish to save money you are welcome to find a plumber and ask him to perform for you. Hopefully he'll turn up on time and not try to reschedule the appointment for a week on Wednesday (with apologies to any punctual plumbers who read this). In a typical hour I will perform one set of about 10 minutes, change into another costume, perform another set and then teach some moves to those of your guests who are willing to join me and lead them in some simple dances. It's a great ice breaker and helps get the party mood going. As I say elsewhere, I'll be happy to tailor my programme to meet your needs.
Value for money. £60 per hour may seem like a lot of money, bear in mind, though, that professional designer dance costumes cost £300 and upwards each. I have public liability insurance, PPL (music) licence and ongoing professional development courses to pay for. When I lead dance I provide props (hip scarves, sticks, finger cymbals, veils, etc.) which I buy and which suffer wear and tear. I also spend hours practising each day, spend time preparing for each event, arrive early and leave late. One hour performing and teaching usually means at least 4 hours of preparation and travel.
Area covered For local events I make no additional charge for travel time or expenses; additional costs for out of area contracts will be negotiated on a case by case basis. "Out of area" means any venue beyond 25 miles from my home in Hemswell Cliff, Lincolnshire.
Bookings When making a booking please think carefully about what time you want me to perform. I will be there early in order to prepare. If your schedule is running late I may have to charge for extra time and if I have another booking after yours I may not be able to stay. If I am unable to perform because of your scheduling problems you are still legally obliged to pay me.
What can you expect? My performances are all family friendly, I don't wear (or remove) seven veils. You can safely invite your mother and the children. Most events are subject to an individual plan based on your requirements. I will discuss this with you by phone and agree a plan which I will confirm to you by email or through the post. When this is agreed I may ask for a deposit to confirm the booking. Private parties usually require a deposit. For organisations such as schools, Womens' Institute groups etc., the deposit is usually waived. Once the deposit is received the booking will be final. In the event that you cancel the booking the deposit is not refundable, I may have turned down other bookings to be at your event. In the unlikely event that I am unable to perform (it hasn't happened yet) due to illness or injury I will inform you as soon as practicable and make every reasonable effort to find a replacement dancer of a similar calibre for you if you wish me to. In the event I am unable to do so your deposit will be refunded in full.
Summary Having spelled out the terms and conditions above I can only add that my aim is to provide you with a dance entertainment experience that will be remembered with pleasure by all who attend. I do everything I can to make my part of your event great fun for all (including myself) and to ensure maximum audience participation where appropriate.
