Are you planning a wedding and looking for something different?

Why not surprise your guests by having a belly dancer?

I'm not just a dancer - I'm a dance animateur! If I can't break the ice and get your guests dancing then I doubt if anyone could!

There's a video clip of me performing at a wedding on my Videos page, if you watch that you'll see for yourself.

The reality of what can be done in an hour varies according to the nature of your event. Sometimes it may be appropriate to have me there for longer, I’ll discuss this with you when the booking is planned.

For your wedding my programme can be tailored to your requirements but we might choose, for example, a 5 to 10 minute performance set followed by a 15 minute break to change costume then another 5 to 10 minute set. I then spend the rest of the time acting as teacher/animateur, teaching your guests some basic belly dance steps and leading them on the dance floor. If the men wish to dance too I find that some dubkha dancing is very appropriate. If you don't know what dubkha is, think Middle Eastern line dance or Zorba the Greek in a fez.

The types of dance I perform in the sets will be discussed with you and I'll need to know some of the physical characteristics of the venue. It would be a bit silly to plan a stick dance (which involves swinging a stick around) in a venue which has a low ceiling. Note that if you wish me to switch from Egyptian style belly dance to Tribal style belly dance you will need to allow a longer period between sets as I have to change my hair and makeup as well as my costume.

At weddings in particular I strongly believe that the bride is the only Diva. Whenever I can I will aim to focus positive attention on the bride and I will be there in a supporting role to help her shine on her special day.

If you are planning a big wedding I can also arrange for a bellydance troupe and Egyptian style drummers... or even an Egyptian band!
